About Makhampom: Where Art is Action, and Performance is Presence

For over three decades, Makhampom has built a creative movement that weaves together performance, social transformation, and intercultural learning. Based in Chiang Dao, a mountainous district home to diverse indigenous communities, and interconnected with the vibrant artistic scene of Chiang Mai, Makhampom offers a rare platform where local wisdom and global imagination meet.

We are committed to supporting artists who wish to ground their work in real relationships whether through field-based collaboration with communities in Chiang Dao, or creative exchange with a wide network of contemporary artists, activists, and educators in Chiang Mai.

At Makhampom, your art does not stand alone. It becomes part of a living, breathing ecosystem of stories, places, and people.

Makhampom actively supports:

• Site-specific performance in local temples, farms, and village spaces
• Community workshops, rituals, and story circles
• Connections to grassroots and alternative art collectives in Northern Thailand
• Translation, cultural mediation, and local mentorship

What You Will Do:

• Co-create with both community-based collaborators and urban-based artists
• Develop works that bridge performance and participation, ritual and reflection
• Design encounters that listen before acting, feel before formulating
• Experience firsthand how art grows social change from the root
